Henry Surtees Headway Challenge - Super One wins

S1 Winning Team

Congratulations to Super One's team drivers who came out on top of thirty-five karts at the Henry Surtees Headway Kart Challenge at Buckmore Park, and helped to raise £60,000 for the charity. Jake Dennis, Ed Brand, Jordan Chamberlain, Dave Eadon and Dan Holland drove Super One's Club 100 kart in the two and a half hour endurance race round Buckmore's twisty track, qualifying second on the grid, but set back by an early drive through penalty. Racing against a host of top line racing drivers the team clawed back into contention, with Jake Dennis taking the last 55 minutes to win by a slender 24 seconds in 189 laps. The funds raised are going to the Headway Tunbridge Wells in memory of Henry Surtees, who tragically lost his life in a Formula 2 race a year ago. Amongst the spectating celebrities were former Formula 1 driver Johnny Herbert, and boxer Barry McGuigan. (Images courtesy of Gary Kimber - TrebleBlue) Read the official press release.

The Performance Master Classes have been developed in conjunction with the Youth Sport Trust and mirror similar programmes in other sports." The classes on offer at Buckmore Park, which will be presented by Symes and racing drivers Tom Gaymor and Bradley Ellis, are "What does it take?" – exploring and understanding the skills needed to be a top level driver at 1830 on Friday and 1800 on Saturday; "Eating to Win" – principles of nutrition and healthy diets at 1500 on Friday and 1400 on Saturday; and "Racing Parent" – a specific session for parents and guardians to explore their roles and how to find the right balance to support their children at 1830 on Friday and 1900 on Saturday. Each interactive workshop lasts for one hour. Three additional Master Classes – "Talking Team You", "Goals and planning" and "Race fit" – will be added to the programme for the MSA rounds at Whilton Mill and PFI.
